Union Street Grill & Grotto

I've never been disappointed when eating at the Union Street Grill and Grotto, and would recommend it as a fine choice for anyone looking for freshly prepared good food in a friendly relaxing atmosphere. If I want something quick I'll pop into the Grotto for a bowl of delicious soup, and when my husband and I are out for a casual dinner this is one of our absolute favourites.

I love this restaurant! I am new to the Comox Valley and I am thrilled to have found a restaurant that caters to a healthy lifestyle! Always fresh ingredients and so much selection! Love it!

I love going to the Grotto. Whether it's to pop in for a quick coffee or to sit down with my family for a relaxed dinner. This restaurant is very family friendly and I can truly relax there while dining with my three year old. There is a cozy nook in the back where there are toys, books and games. It's like being at home in my living room except I don't have to cook or do the dishes and the staff and food is great.

Caesar salad supreme, that has been my favourite. I love all the interesting food choices offered...always a surprise to see what is on the menu. Offering gluten free choices is a winner for me also. Thanks for the emails with alerts for monthly specials.

Danielle, Mark and family and staff offer the most stupendous seafoods, vegies and meats, not to mention great desserts and tapas + more. Every dish is always created with fine European flair, using super fresh ingredients, and wonderful smiles! Rosemary

Great food and atmosphere. I have eaten regularly at the Union St and Grotto for nearly 10 years and have even had staff Christmas parties there for my company My Tech Guys. Consistently great food and great service keep me coming back.

Delicious food and great service. I usually choose the Daily Special, the Chef is so creative and every dish is so tasty and fresh. I don't have a favourite because everything I've tried has been so good. I am not Celiac but some of my friends are, it is wonderful that the Union Street Grill has a Gluten Free Menu. The staff is friendly and helpful.

Great environment, great, fresh food with lots of focos on our local producers, and a wonderful 100% Celiac Menu! The kids menu is more creative then usual and the prices are beyond reasonable! I have yet to be disappointed when I visit the Union Street Grill!

I love the Union Street Grill. In particulaar, I love their Steak Sandwich. The taste is amazing, in fact, after the frist time I had eaten it, I couldn't get it out ot my mind, and made sure I went back to have it again, about 3 weeks later. If your looking for great food and wonderful service the Union Street Grill is the place for you and your dinning companions. Both Management and Staff will make you feel at home and welcome you to a dinning experience to be remembered. The fine quisine will titalate your taste buds with true dinning adventure and the choices of wine is sublime wonderment. The varieties of dinning delights can and will satisfy your every wish. A visit to the Grotto , a few feet from the main restraunt,will add to your "To be" list when visiting the City of Courtenay or just enjoying a night out in your home town. We love Union Street Grill! It's nice and casual and always friendly atmosphere. Love that walnut burger! Also love the gluten free menu even though we eat gluten. Great service too.

Our favourite restaurant in Courtenay! We love the GlutenFree Menu and I personally love the Walnut Mushroom dish in all its guises! I have always found the staff to be warm, courteous and highly competent. Friendly with Great Food-- who can beat that?

I couldn't agree more with you Anneke. I am salivating thinking about the next time I will find myself enjoying another Mushroom Walnut Burger/salad. Another thing that I love about the Union Street Grill is that it really doesn't matter what age you are. The friendly atmosphere and the greatest variety of exquisite dishes will suit just about everyone, even my no dairy, gluten free husband :-)

Everything I've eaten here was delicious. It's my favourite place to bring people to dinner, and the staff has always been friendly and professional. The seafood especially is wonderful. Highly recommended.

I've never been disappointed with anything I had at Union Street Grill. The staff are always wonderful, and helpful, the last meal I had the waitress recommended the perfect wine to go with it, and she was bang on, it was excellent. The grotto is a great place to relax with a drink, and good food as well, I often stop in on a weekend to have a martini, and read the paper :)

Our favourite Courtenay restaurant. Great variety, superb food, great tunes and the wonderful, smiling staff. The daily fresh sheet is always a taste treat and the deserts are out of this world. Don't miss the Screamin's! Scott & Len Lyle

The West Coast Shellfish Linguine was absolutely fantastic & hubby says the Chicken Milano that he had was also wonderful. The atmosphere is really relaxing & we definitely enjoyed Todd, Doug & friends after dinner.

Love the atmosphere especially the Blues as background music. (Let's keep playing it, Mark!) The Grotto is my preferred stop for lunch with the Pork Gyro one of my favorites.

One of my favourite places to eat in the Comox Valley. Great ambiance (especially the music), great staff and service and most important of all, great food. I love their Pork 'n Feta Salad and so much more!

Fabulous destination in downtown Courtenay! One of my favourite restaurants in the Comox Valley. My mouth is watering already...whether I'm ordering one of my standard menu choices or feeling adventurous, I'm guaranteed good quality fresh food. A great menu selection and they have the gluten free options nailed down. At The Grotto you can purchase some of their in-house made products to take home - my favourites are the Honey Yogurt Dressing and the Walnut Mushroom Burger Patties. Quick and delicious choices to entertaining at home.

Wonderful staff , upbeat happy place , Food has wonderful flavours , The Philly Roasted Beef & Onion Melt is one of my favourites and the hot apple cider is amazing .

Gluten free heaven! We stop here everytime we are in town just because of the gluten free menu and kitchen. I can eat here and not have to worry about any hidden factors that will make me sick 3 hours later. They have excellent selection and great customer service!

Good food. However, some of the portions can be a bit small for lunch. But its worth it. You may just have to order two of everything!

The Grill and the Grotto - get a 5 star rating from me. We go into the Grill if want eat "good food" because they never let us down. If we want to eat local produce and drink local wine - they've got it. If we want seafood that's been harvested sustainably and an atmosphere that is comfortable with friendly staff - they've got it. Or,if we are downtown and just want a quick snack and a drink we pop into the Grotto. Tried and true, the Union Street Grill is an excellent restaurant and an asset to our community. I love all the gluten free options and that they seem to be so allergy aware and very accommodating no matter your dietary needs.

I love the down to earth cooking with flair... the salads are amazing!
