Welcome to AboutComoxValley.com's Video Trail View (beta)!

We strapped a camera to our bike (or in some cases our head!) and turned on our GPS recorder and this is what we got!

  • Watch the marker on the map move as the video plays.
  • Click on a point on the trail to seek the video to that position.
  • Skip to any part of the video and the map marker will move with it.

This is a new feature that is still in the beta stage. Found a glitch? Have a suggestion? Want to video record a trail yourself?! We're dying to hear your feedback.

Tubing down the puntledge has got to be one of the most enjoyed summer activities in the valley.  Follow my tubing adventure down the river in the video above.

Tubers often enter the river at the Puntledge River Fish Hatchery, which is where this video starts.  Popular exit points are at Puntledge Park, Condensory Bridge, and Lewis Park.  In this video, I exit at Lewis Park.

Video was taken on May 19, 2011, flow was about average.  River flows vary on a daily basis.  See BC Hydro's site for projected flows: http://www.bchydro.com/about/our_system/reservoir_discharges/comox_dam.html

I have snorkeled the river quite a bit over the past 2 years and have only seen seals 3 or 4 times. consider yourself lucky! David is right though if you want to increase your chances of seeing them go during the salmon run! (be careful though bc hydro floods the river on certain days in the fall to assist the salmon.)

Good question! I was in the river last week (July 2011) and we saw a seal near lewis park. Seals are most common near the end of summer / beginning of fall (Aug-Oct) as they come into the river from the ocean to feast on salmon swimming up the river. It is not uncommon to see a group of 3 to 6 seals around Lewis park.

My girlfriend and I went down the river last year and we were able to float with a seal just before the day. Is this a common occurrence or did we just get lucky.
